New cards by Denise Hoyle

We have just produced two new cards from collages made by artist Denise Hoyle. The images are taken from books Denise made for her children in the 1970s. Denise was born in Paris and moved to England in 1954. A year later she married printmaker, Walter Hoyle (1922-2000) and they lived in Great Bardfield, Essex with fellow artists, inlcuding Edward Bawden. Although Denise had no formal art training she has always used her natural creative ability to make collages, ceramics and paintings. In the 1970s she designed a number of posters for the Post Office Savings Bank.
